This article needs little explaining...just two words (or 3? or 1?) Chick-fil-A:
http://dylanmclemore.com/2012/07/26/chick-fil-a-the-first-amendment-and-the-drawing-out-of-a-public-relations-firestorm/
This is a link to a chapter, from a textbook, regarding the first amendment and public relations. It also discusses advertising. I noticed in the references at the end that one of our textbooks (Gower) is cited. Enjoy!

Teddy Spicer

Hi!

My name is Teddy - my birth name is Theodora, but since my parents are total hippies, they decided to call me the super feminine, yet common nickname, Teddy. It's been really fun my whole life getting mail that says, "Mr. Teddy Spicer," or on the phone, "Betty? Heddy? Patty?"

Tough Mudder 2011 - 12 miles of awesomeness/hell. And I did it twice.

I'm originally from West Dover, Vermont, where I grew up doing all of the stereotypical things that Vermonters do - ski, snowboard, eat lots of maple syrup and....that's about it.

Park City, Utah 2011 - bluebird skies, powder, beer, and Mormons.

I came to Connecticut in 2003 to go to Quinnipiac for Broadcast Journalism. I had an amazing four years at QU where I was an Orientation Leader, a member of Student Government, Admissions Tour Guide, Intramural Sports participant, Step Squad member, and a professional Side Street-er.

These are my best friends from college who are now all getting married. #ifeelold #dontneedfakeidsanymore
An internship at the YES Network during my second semester of my senior year lead to a full-time job after I graduated in 2007. I currently work in the promotions department where I conceptualize, produce, and edit :20 - :30 topical promotions for Yankees and Nets games, as well as for our original network programming. This job, for all intents and purposes, is my dream job; growing up I was a huge Yankees fan and I always wanted to work in television. In this job, I get to work with and meet the players and am totally consumed with everything Yankees.

Producing an interview with Derek Jeter. He's everything he's cracked up to be.

I'm hoping that with my background in sports and television, I transition into sports public relations and entertainment. I hope to eventually get to a point in my career where I am established and financially secure enough to work in non-profit public relations.

I currently live in Fairfield, Connecticut with my boyfriend and our yellow lab, Gunner.

Face fat. It's amazing.

Beth Hollman

Hello Everyone!

My name is Beth Hollman. I went to St. Leo University right after high school, but decided I needed a break from school, so I took 13 years off. (Ha!) I went back for my bachelor's degree in 2002 and graduated summa cum laude from Albertus Magnus College in 2007 with my BA in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. I have lived on my own and worked since I was 18 and every job I've held has had some element of public relations. I seem to naturally gravitate to PR tasks and others seem to seek me out for them as well, so I have finally decided what I want to do with my life (at the age of 42!). I am fairly certain that I would like to work in corporate communications or employee relations; however, I am still open to other options at this point. I think that would offer me the best money combined with the most stability schedule-wise and allow me time to raise my family. I have considered spending a year or two at an agency before I go into corporate comm/PR just to gain the experience there, but I'm undecided. I've also heard that the agencies pay is rather low comparatively speaking, so I'll have to weigh my options in the next year.

I am an Army brat, so I have lived all over, but coastal Georgia is my home. I've lived in Connecticut for 15 years with my husband Mike. We have three young sons: Mike (almost 8!), Henry and Daniel (3.5 year old fraternal twins). I am the Regent of the Meriden/Wallingford Chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR). After my boys, school, and the DAR, any free time I have is spent at the gym. I worked in the music business for 7 years and still love to attend concerts, so I go to several a year. I also enjoy doing 5ks and attending my sons' sports activities (mommy-time!). I love to go on dates with my husband in his '65 Chevy Nova, but it generally sits in the garage. I like reading, eat a gluten-free diet 6 days a week, and have 3 aquariums at home.

Here are some photos we took yesterday while at the Guilford Fair - our favorite!!

This is me with Mike, Daniel, and Henry....

Katherine Glidden

Hey everyone,

My name is Katherine Glidden and I am originally from Holyoke, Massachusetts. I recently graduated from Quinnipiac in journalism with a minor in sociology. I decided last year to continue my education in the fast track program because I became more and more interested in public relations and envisioned myself in the field. I am currently in the one year fast track program and I am also working as a GA for Professor Sisco and work part time as a bank teller.

I enjoy running, reading, watching movies an being surrounded my family and friends. I love the fall with all the colors and activities that are encompassed with this time of year. My favorite foods are Mexican and Italian. I discovered my love of traveling during the second semester of my junior year when I studied abroad in Rome. During my time in Europe I traveled to places like London, Florence, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Greece, Nice, and Capri. I truly enjoyed learning about the different cultures and immersing myself into a new atmosphere.

With my banking and travel experience, at this point I envision myself in either corporate or international relations, however I am still new to the field and open to the wide variety of areas that are offered.

Jared Baiman Bio

Hey everyone,

My name is Jared Baiman, you can just call me Jared. I am from Long Island, more specifically Great Neck. I currently work at Mercury Public Affairs, which is mostly a public policy, political activism, campaigns type of public relations/lobbying firm. I graduated from Quinnipiac this past May with a degree in Print Journalism. My future career plans is to eventually start my own public relations firm.

I really enjoyed learning about strategic communications and crisis management as an undergrad and I am considering going to law school soon too, so my plan would be to start some type of agency while applying my PR background. I have most of my work experience in the sports field, doing PR for the New York Islanders, NBCUniversal Corporate Communications, Sharp Decisions, NBC Sports and Mercury, as well as ticket sales with the New York Mets. With a passion for strategic communications and crisis management, I am considering going to law school too and then start some type of agency while applying his PR background.

Kacey Shepherd

Hi Everyone!

My name is Kacey Shepherd and I from Guilford, Connecticut. I received my bachelor's degree in Management of Sports Industries with a concentration in Event Planning at University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut. I had an incredible undergraduate experience at UNH having studied abroad twice (Australia and Italy), completing my internship in London at the 2012 Summer Olympics, being president of my sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon and Vice President of Sports Management club and also having the honor of being Sigma Chi Sweetheart. Though I loved my extracurricular activities, my educational add ons were just as important to me. I was the College of Business Student Ambassador and served on a board with both other students and faculty that helped better the UNH community. As well as being an "Officer" in my major. (An officer is someone who can mentor, help out, and assist professors in their specific major.) All of these things help define the person I am. I am hard working, dedicated and put 100% into everything I do.

While I am completing my master's at QU I am also serving as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Department of Game Day Operations and Event Planning. I love everything sports and hope someday to be an event planner for a professional sports team or an arena. I am a die hard Boston fan (Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox).

Besides everything sports, I am an avid runner and Crossfit junkie. I have a serious travel bug, I am obsessed with new places and adventure. I LOVE to cook and trying new recipes, spending time with my family, and just hanging out with my two dogs. I look forward to getting to know all of you!!
